Raken Time Tracking Features

An overview of Raken's time tracking tools — from clocking in on the jobsite to reviewing and approving time for payroll.

Written by Carolina Manos

Raken's suite of time tracking tools gives field crews, supervisors, and office teams everything they need to capture, manage, and approve time accurately and efficiently. Whether employees are clocking in on their own devices, a shared kiosk, or having time entered by a supervisor, Raken keeps payroll data accurate and ready to sync to your accounting software.

Time Policies

Time Policies are the foundation of time tracking in Raken. They define how time is captured, calculated, and categorized across your organization — including overtime rules, breaks, rounding, pay types, shifts, and employee assignments.

Overtime Rules & Premiums

Raken automatically categorizes employee hours into pay types — Regular, Overtime, and Double Time — based on the overtime rules set in each Time Policy. Pre-built Overtime Rule Templates are available for common schedules including Standard 40, Standard 8/40, California, and more.

Time Clock

Raken Time Clock lets every field employee capture their own time directly from the Raken mobile app. Requires the Time Clock add-on.

Kiosk

Raken Kiosk allows all employees to clock in and out on a single shared device on the jobsite. Kiosk does not require the Time Clock add-on — it requires Supervisor entries (detailed) to be enabled in the Time Policy.

Time Cards

Raken Time Cards allow supervisors to create and manage time entries for their entire crew from the mobile app or web app. Time cards can be entered individually or in bulk for a crew, and can be associated with cost codes, classifications, shifts, and pay types.

Pay types automatically allocated by overtime rules can be overridden before saving on both web and mobile. Select the pay type from the ellipsis menu on the time card form and confirm the Override overtime rule warning. Note: My Time on web does not support pay type overrides.

Where to create time cards:

  • On web → Click Time in the left navigation > Entries

  • On mobile (Time tab) → Tap Time in the bottom navigation bar

  • On mobile (from project) → Tap Project Tools > select your project > Daily Logs > Time Cards

Crew Time Management

The Time tab gives supervisors a centralized view to clock crew members in and out, create time cards for their crew, and review the status of all time entries for the pay period — all from one place.

Time Review and Approval

The Time menu on the web app is the central place to view, manage, and approve all time cards across your organization. Review time by Summary, Grid, or Entries view, filter by project or employee, and approve time cards individually or in bulk.

The Entries page loads fully collapsed by default — each employee shows as a summary row. Expand individual employees or use the expand all control to see detail rows. Columns are resizable and preferences persist per user.

Per Diem

Per diem requests can be submitted and reviewed directly within Raken's time workflows. Administrators can review and manage all submissions from Time > Review > Per Diem.

Considerations

  • On mobile, time cards can be created from the Time tab (bottom nav) or from Project Tools > [Project] > Daily Logs > Time Cards.

  • Pay types allocated by overtime rules can be overridden before saving on web and mobile. My Time on web does not support pay type overrides.

  • The Entries page loads collapsed by default — expand individual employees or use expand all to see detail rows.

  • The Time Clock add-on is required for worker self-clock-in. Kiosk does not require the Time Clock add-on.

  • Per Diem requires the Performance Plan.

  • Overtime Premiums (Weekend, Shift, Holiday) require the Performance Plan.

  • Time Policies must be configured before advanced features are applied.
