How to Create a Project on Mobile

Step 1: Open the Project List

Open the Raken mobile app. Tap Project tools in the bottom navigation bar. Tap Select at the top left of the screen to open the project list.

Step 2: Start a New Project

Tap the + button in the top right corner of the Select project screen.

Step 3: Fill In Project Details

Enter the project information. Project name is the only required field. All other fields are optional but recommended:

  • Project number — your internal reference number

  • Address — enables automatic weather capture on daily reports

  • Time zone — auto-populates based on the address entered

  • Start date / End date — used for project tracking and compliance

  • Project groups — assign to a group for filtered reporting

  • Project template — apply a pre-configured template to set up daily report sections automatically

Tip: If location services are active on your device, Raken will autofill your current location into the address fields.

Step 4: Save

Tap the checkmark in the top right corner to save. The project is created immediately and appears in your project list.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

I don't see the + button on the Select project screen — why?

Only Account Administrators can create projects by default. Project Admins can create projects if the Can create projects permission is enabled under Company > Roles & Permissions on the web app.

Can I add team members to the project from mobile?

Yes. From inside the project, tap Directory, then tap the orange + button in the bottom right corner. Select the employees you want to add, then tap the orange checkmark in the top right corner to save. Team members can also be assigned from the web app via the project's directory or from Directory > Employees.

Can I apply a project template when creating a project on mobile?

Yes. The Project template field is available on the mobile creation form, the same as on web. Templates themselves are still managed and created under Company > Project templates on the web app, but applying an existing template to a new project works on both platforms.

Can I configure project settings from mobile?

Full project settings are managed from the web app under Projects > Settings. On mobile you can update basic project info but detailed configuration requires the web app.

How do I make a project inactive, or delete it?

See How to Change a Project's State in Raken for the full walkthrough of Active, Inactive, and Deleted states.

Technical Specifications

  • Compatibility: iOS 15+, Android 10+

  • Offline Capability: No — project creation requires an active connection

  • Plan Required: All plans

  • Role Required: Account Administrator (by default); Project Admin if permissions are customized

Considerations

  • Enter a full street address (not just a city or zip code) to enable accurate automatic weather capture on daily reports.

  • Project templates can be applied when creating a project on mobile, the same as web. Managing or building new templates still requires the web app under Company > Project templates.

  • Team members can be added to a project from mobile via the project's Directory — tap the orange +, select employees, and tap the checkmark to save.
