If your company has existing custom checklist templates built in an older version of Raken or in a third-party system, this article walks you through the process of migrating them into Raken's current checklist template builder so your team can continue using them without interruption.
Quick Answer
To migrate existing checklist templates into Raken:
Log into the Raken web app and go to Company > Checklists.
Click + New template and rebuild your checklist section by section.
Save the template — it's immediately available for use on all projects.
Raken does not support direct import of checklist templates from external files or systems. Templates must be rebuilt manually in the current template builder.
How to Rebuild an Existing Template
Step 1: Gather Your Existing Template
Before starting, have your existing checklist handy — whether it's a PDF, Word document, spreadsheet, or a checklist from another system. You'll use this as your reference as you rebuild in Raken.
Step 2: Navigate to Checklist Templates
Log into the Raken web app. Click Company in the left side navigation, then click Checklists.
Step 3: Create a New Template
Click + New template. Enter the template name and select the type — Safety or Quality. Use the same name as your existing checklist for easy reference.
Step 4: Rebuild Sections and Items
Click + Add section to create each section from your existing checklist. Within each section, click + Add item to enter each checklist item. Work through the entire checklist until all sections and items are re-entered.
Step 5: Configure Required Items
For any items that must be answered before the checklist can be submitted, toggle on the Required setting for that item. Add any note prompts that should guide your field users on what to capture.
Step 6: Save
Click Save. The template is immediately available on all projects. Verify by opening a project and starting a new checklist — your migrated template should appear in the company templates tab.
Tips for Efficient Migration
Batch by type: Migrate all Safety-type checklists first, then Quality-type. This keeps your library organized as you build.
Use the Raken library as a starting point: Before rebuilding from scratch, check if Raken already has a similar template in the built-in library. You may only need minor modifications rather than a full rebuild.
Duplicate to create variations: Once a base template is built, use the Duplicate option to create project-specific or trade-specific variations without rebuilding from scratch each time.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Can I import templates from a CSV or PDF?
No. Raken does not support direct file import for checklist templates. Templates must be created manually in the template builder.
I have templates in an older version of Raken — do they carry over automatically?
Templates created in a prior version of Raken's checklist tool should already be visible in your template library. If you don't see them, contact Raken Support and we can help locate or restore them.
Can I export a template from Raken to share with another company?
Templates cannot be exported and imported between Raken accounts. Each account maintains its own template library.
