Finding a specific photo in a project gallery with hundreds of images is time-consuming. Raken's AI Photo Tagging automatically analyzes and categorizes your project photos as they're taken — so instead of scrolling through everything, you can search by what's in the photo and find exactly what you need in seconds.

Quick Answer

AI Photo Tagging works automatically — no setup needed. Photos taken in the Raken app are tagged instantly. To search by tag:

  1. Open your project in the Raken web app.

  2. Click Gallery in the project left side menu.

  3. Type a keyword (e.g., "concrete", "rebar", "equipment") in the search bar.

AI Photo Tagging requires the Performance Plan.

How It Works

When a photo is taken inside the Raken app, Raken's AI analyzes the image and applies relevant descriptive tags — for example, concrete, rebar, equipment, framing, or excavation. Tags are applied automatically within seconds of the photo being uploaded.

You don't need to name files or add descriptions for the search to work. The AI reads the content of the photo and tags it for you.

Viewing and Managing Tags on the Web

Step 1: Open the Gallery

Log into the Raken web app. Click Projects in the left side navigation and open your project. Click Gallery in the project left side menu.

Step 2: View Tags on a Photo

Click any photo to open it. The AI-generated tags appear in the panel on the right-hand side of the screen. Each tag is listed as a clickable label.

Step 3: Edit Tags

You're always in control. From the photo panel you can:

  • Add a custom tag — type any label you want, such as an internal code, trade name, or subcontractor

  • Edit an existing tag — click a tag to rename it

  • Remove a tag — click the × next to any tag to delete it

Searching by Tag

The most powerful use of AI Photo Tagging is the search bar in the Gallery. Type any keyword — concrete, rebar, crane, a custom tag you added — and Raken instantly surfaces every photo in the gallery with that tag. No more scrolling through hundreds of images.

Custom tags you add work in search just like AI-generated tags — so if you tag photos with a subcontractor name or phase code, you can search by those too.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Which photos get AI tags applied?

Only photos taken directly inside the Raken app are analyzed and tagged by the AI. Photos uploaded from your device's camera roll are not automatically tagged, though you can add custom tags to them manually.

Can I use AI tags in Daily Reports or the Activity Feed?

AI tags are currently available in the Project Gallery only. They are not yet surfaced in Daily Reports or the Activity Feed.

Can I bulk download photos by tag?

Not at this time. The bulk download tool applies to the entire gallery or a selected set of photos, not by tag. If tag-specific downloads are important to your workflow, share that feedback with the Raken Support team.

Can I turn off automatic tagging?

Yes. Contact the Raken Support team at help@rakenapp.com to disable AI Photo Tagging for your account.

A tag was applied incorrectly — what do I do?

You can edit or remove any AI-generated tag directly from the photo panel. Click the tag to edit it or click the × to remove it. Correcting tags also helps improve future AI accuracy for your account.
