Raken Time Clock lets every field employee capture their own time directly from the Raken mobile app — no supervisor needed. Once enabled, workers clock in and out on their own device, and all entries flow automatically into the Time tab and daily report. Time Clock reduces timecard errors, eliminates buddy punching, and frees supervisors to focus on the work.
Quick Answer
To use Raken Time Clock:
Enable Time Clock in your Time Policy under Company > Time > Policies > Settings.
Invite workers to Raken — assign them the Project Worker role in Directory > Employees.
Workers tap Time in the bottom navigation bar and tap Clock In.
Workers tap the red Clock Out button when done.
All clock entries sync in real time to the Time tab and daily report.
How to Set Up Time Clock on the Web
Before workers can clock in, Time Clock must be enabled in your Time Policy and workers must be invited to Raken.
Step 1: Enable Time Clock in Your Policy
Log in to the Raken web app. Click Company in the left side menu. Click Time, then click Policies. Click Edit policy on the relevant policy. In the Settings section under Time tracking, toggle on Employee time clock. Click Save & finish.
Step 2: Invite Workers to Use Time Clock
Log in to the Raken web app. Click Directory in the left side menu. Click Employees. Click the orange + Employee button. Fill in the employee's details and assign the Project Worker role. Click the orange Save button.
The employee will receive an invitation to create a Raken account. Once they accept, they can use Time Clock on their own device.
To invite an existing worker, find them in the employee list, click their name, update their role to Project Worker, and save. They will receive an invitation automatically.
To disable Time Clock for a specific employee without changing their role, go to Directory > Employees, click the ellipsis (...) next to their name, and select Disable time clock.
How to Clock In and Out on Mobile (Workers)
Step 3: Open the Time Tab
Workers tap Time in the bottom navigation bar to access the clock.
Step 4: Select a Project
Tap Select Project and choose the project the employee is working on.
Step 5: Clock In
Tap the green Clock In button to start the clock. The app records the time and location of the clock-in event.
If Photo ID is enabled in the Time Policy, the employee will be prompted to take a selfie before clocking in. If Clock in questions are enabled, the employee will be prompted to answer configured questions.
Step 6: Log Breaks (if applicable)
While clocked in, tap Take break to start a break. Tap End break when returning to work. Break types available are determined by the employee's Time Policy.
Step 7: Switch Projects or Cost Codes (if needed)
To switch to a different project or cost code mid-shift, tap the ellipsis (...) menu and select Switch. Select the new project and cost code. Raken automatically splits the time entry at the point of the switch.
Step 8: Clock Out
Tap the red Clock Out button when the shift is complete. If Photo ID or Clock out questions are enabled, the employee will be prompted before the clock-out is confirmed.
How Supervisors Manage Clock Events on Mobile
From the Time tab, supervisors can manage clock events for their entire crew without needing workers to do it themselves.
Tap Time in the bottom navigation bar. On the Clock tab, each crew member is listed with their current status and hours logged for the day. Tap the ellipsis (...) next to any employee to take action.
Available actions from the ellipsis menu:
Action | What it does |
Clock in | Clocks the employee in immediately |
Take break | Starts a break for the employee |
End break | Ends the employee's current break |
Switch | Switches the employee to a new project or cost code |
Clock out | Clocks the employee out immediately |
Clock in at | Sets a specific clock-in time (for missed punches) |
Take break at | Sets a specific break start time |
End break at | Sets a specific break end time |
Clock out at | Sets a specific clock-out time (for missed punches) |
Supervisors can also bulk clock in or out their entire crew using the ellipsis (...) at the top of the screen and selecting the appropriate action.
How Supervisors Manage Clock Status on the Web
Account and Project Administrators can view and manage live clock status for all employees from the web app.
Click Time in the left side menu. Click Clock. The Clock page shows all employees with their current status, project, crew, clock-in time, and live hours for the day. Click the ellipsis (...) next to any employee to clock them in, out, or make a correction.
For full details, see: How to Manage Clock Status on the Web.
Time Clock Add-On Features
The following features are available alongside Time Clock when enabled in the Time Policy:
Photo ID
Raken's AI Photo ID captures an image of the employee at clock-in and/or clock-out and matches it against their profile to prevent buddy punching. Mismatches are flagged for review in Time > Review > Photo ID.
See: Raken Photo ID
Clock In & Clock Out Questions
Custom questions can be assigned to clock-in and clock-out events to capture compliance information — such as safety checks or health screens. Responses are reviewed in Time > Review > Clock questions.
See: Raken Clock In & Clock Out Questions
Geofencing
Geofencing flags employees who clock in or out outside the project radius, sends location-based reminders, or prevents clock-in when off-site. Configured in the Time Policy Settings section.

Troubleshooting & FAQ
A worker says they don't see the Clock In button — why?
The worker must have the Project Worker role in Raken and Time Clock must be enabled in their assigned Time Policy. Confirm both in Directory > Employees (role) and Company > Time > Policies (Time Clock toggle).
Can a supervisor clock out an employee who forgot to clock out?
Yes. From Time > Clock on the web app, click the ellipsis (...) next to the employee and select Clock out at. Enter the correct time and save. On mobile, tap the ellipsis (...) next to the employee on the Clock tab and select Clock out at.
What is the difference between a Project Worker and a Worker?
A Worker has no Raken login — their time is entered by a supervisor. A Project Worker has a Raken login with limited access (My Time and Schedule only) and can clock in and out using Time Clock on their own device. Workers become Project Workers when invited to use Time Clock.
Do Time Clock entries appear on the daily report?
Yes. All Time Clock entries sync in real time to both the Time tab and the daily report — as long as the employee has an active signal.
Can I use Time Clock and supervisor entry at the same time?
Yes. Both can be enabled simultaneously within the same Time Policy. Supervisor entries and Time Clock entries both appear together in the Time tab and daily report.
Does Time Clock work offline?
No. Time Clock requires an active connection to record clock events. For offline time entry, use Daily Logs > Time Cards on mobile instead.
Can I use Kiosk and Time Clock at the same time?
Yes. Both Kiosk mode and Employee time clock can be enabled simultaneously within the same Time Policy. See How to Use Raken Kiosk.
