When employees work shifts that cross midnight, Raken tracks all hours as a single continuous time entry tied to the original clock-in date. Whether employees are using Time Clock or a supervisor is entering time manually, overnight hours are captured accurately without any manual workarounds.
Quick Answer
Raken handles overnight shifts automatically:
Time Clock: Clock in before midnight as normal. The timer continues past midnight β all hours stay on the original clock-in date. Clock out in the morning to complete the entry.
Supervisor entry: Create the time card on the start date. Enter a start time before midnight and an end time the following morning. Raken calculates total hours correctly.
No special setup required. Overnight shifts are supported on all plans.
Via Time Clock (Mobile)
Step 1: Clock In Normally
Tap Time in the bottom navigation and tap Clock In. There is no special overnight mode.
Step 2: The Timer Continues Past Midnight
As midnight passes, the active timer continues running without interruption. All hours accumulate on the original start date.
Step 3: Clock Out in the Morning
Tap Clock Out when the shift ends. The full overnight entry is recorded on the start date.

Troubleshooting & FAQ
Does Raken automatically stop the clock at midnight?

What date does an overnight shift appear under?
The time card is recorded under the start date. If an employee clocks in Friday at 10:00 PM and out Saturday at 6:00 AM, the entry appears under Friday.
Does overnight tracking affect overtime calculations?
