The daily report is the heart of Raken. It's how field crews document what happened on the jobsite each day — who worked, what was done, weather conditions, photos, safety notes, and more. Once signed and completed, the report is automatically distributed to stakeholders as a PDF. This article walks you through creating your first one.

Quick Answer

To create a daily report in Raken:

  1. Open the Raken mobile app and tap Project Tools.

  2. Select your project — today's daily log opens automatically.

  3. Log your Work logs, Notes, Photos, and any other sections relevant to the day.

  4. Tap Preview report to review, then tap Sign & complete to finalize.

You can also create and review daily reports from the Raken web app under Projects > [Project] > Daily Logs.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Step 1: Open Today's Daily Log

Open the Raken mobile app. Tap Project Tools in the bottom navigation bar. Select your project from the list. The app opens directly to today's Daily Logs screen. You'll see a date strip at the top — tap the arrows to navigate to a different day if needed.

Step 2: Log Work Activity

Tap Work logs to record the work performed on site today. Work logs capture who was on site, hours worked, and what activities took place. Tap the + button to add a new entry, fill in the details, and tap Save.

Work logs are organized by company — you'll be asked to select a company name for each entry. This makes it easy for General Contractors to track subcontractor headcount and activity across projects.

Step 3: Add Notes

Tap Notes to add any written observations, instructions, or context for the day. Notes appear in the daily report PDF and can include photos and file attachments.

Step 4: Add Photos and Attachments

Tap Attachments to upload photos, documents, or files directly to the daily report. You can take a new photo or select from your device's camera roll. All attachments are stored in Raken and included in the report.

Step 5: Complete Other Sections (Optional)

Depending on your account configuration, you may also see:

  • Time cards — Log individual employee hours for payroll

  • Survey — Answer custom daily survey questions set up by your admin

  • Safety & QC (accessible from the project menu) — Log toolbox talks, checklists, and observations

Step 6: Preview the Report

Scroll to the bottom of the Daily Logs screen and tap Preview report. This shows you exactly how the report will look as a PDF before you sign it. Review all sections for accuracy.

Step 7: Sign and Complete

Tap Sign & complete at the bottom of the screen. Draw your signature with your finger, then tap Complete in the top right corner. The report is now finalized and will be automatically distributed to anyone set up to receive it.

Once signed and completed, the daily report is locked. Contact your Account Admin if corrections are needed.

Creating and Reviewing Daily Reports on the Web

The Raken web app gives you a full view of your daily reports across all projects. To access them:

  2. Click Projects in the left side menu and open a project.

  3. Click Daily Logs in the project left side menu.

  5. Add or edit entries in any section — Work logs, Time cards, Notes, Attachments, Survey.

  6. Click the Sign button in the top bar to sign and complete the report for the selected day.

To email or download the report, click the Reports button in the top bar and select Daily.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

Who receives the daily report when it's completed?

Reports are automatically emailed to anyone set up as a report recipient for the project. Recipients are configured under Project Settings > Report distribution on the web app. Contact your Account Admin to update the recipient list.

Can I edit a report after it's been signed?

Completed reports are locked. If you need to make a correction, contact your Account Admin. An admin can reopen the report, make edits, and re-sign it.

What if no work was done today?

On the web app, toggle No work done in the top bar for the relevant day. On mobile, tap the moon icon in the top right corner of the Daily Logs screen. This marks the day as a no-work day and still generates a report entry.

Can I log a report for a past date?

Yes. Use the date navigation at the top of the Daily Logs screen to go back to any previous date and log or edit entries. Note that completed reports for past dates may need to be reopened by an admin before edits can be made.

Does the daily report work offline?

Yes. Work logs, notes, and photo attachments can be logged offline on the mobile app. Entries sync automatically when your connection is restored. See Working with Raken Offline for details.

How is weather added to the report?

Weather is captured automatically based on your project's address — you don't need to enter it manually. Make sure your project has a valid street address configured. See Raken Automatic Weather Capture for details.
