Raken's integration with Viewpoint Spectrum automatically syncs your Projects, Employees, Cost Codes, and Classifications between Spectrum and Raken every 30 minutes — keeping both systems in alignment so your field team works with accurate data and your payroll team can push time cards back to Spectrum with a click.
Quick Answer
The Spectrum integration is CS-managed via the Trimble AppXchange platform. To get started:
Contact your Customer Success Manager or email help@rakenapp.com to request access.
Your Raken integration specialist will confirm eligibility and schedule an intro call.
Spectrum integration requires the Performance Plan.
How It Works
The integration is built on the Trimble AppXchange platform, which connects Raken to Spectrum via a connector agent installed alongside your Spectrum instance. Once live, the following data syncs from Spectrum to Raken every 30 minutes:
JC Jobs — synced as Raken Projects
JC Job Phases — synced as Raken Cost Codes
PR Employees — synced as Raken Workers
PR Wage Codes, Unions, and Rates — synced as Raken Classifications. Important: Raken currently only supports pulling Classification data from Spectrum's "1-Wage Code Rates" option. If an employee's Spectrum profile is configured to a different classification source, their Classification will not populate in Raken.
When it's time to process payroll, you export completed time cards from Raken Timesheets and push them to Spectrum via PR Pre-Time Employee Imports.
Data Mapping
The table below shows how data maps between Viewpoint Spectrum and Raken, and in which direction.
Viewpoint Spectrum | Raken | Direction |
JC Jobs | Projects | Spectrum → Raken |
JC Job Phases | Cost Codes | Spectrum → Raken |
PR Employees | Workers | Spectrum → Raken |
PR Wage Codes, Unions, and Rates | Classifications | Spectrum → Raken |
Time Cards | PR Pre-Time Employee Imports | Raken → Spectrum (on-demand) |
What to Expect During Onboarding
Your Raken integration specialist manages the full onboarding process. Here's what to expect:
Request & intro call — Your specialist confirms eligibility, walks through the integration data mapping, and agrees on next steps.
AppXchange workspace setup — Your specialist creates your AppXchange workspace and sends you an activation email.
Connector agent install — Your IT administrator installs the AppXchange Connector Agent alongside your Spectrum instance. Your specialist provides instructions and is available to assist via Zoom.
Data cleanup — Before connecting, your Raken data is aligned with Spectrum records. Job Numbers in Raken must match Spectrum exactly (e.g.,
1234). Employee IDs must match Spectrum employee numbers exactly. Your specialist guides you through this step.Connection & initial sync — Your specialist connects Raken to the AppXchange cache and activates the data flows: Classifications → Employees → Projects & Cost Codes → Time Cards.
Data review — You review the synced data together and resolve any duplicates or mismatches.
Time card sync test — You run a test export to confirm time cards are posting correctly in Spectrum.
Go live — Your team starts using the integration for their regular payroll process.
How to Sync Time Cards to Spectrum
Log into the Raken web app and click Time in the left side navigation.
Click Timesheets.
Select the pay period you want to export.
Select all or specific time cards, then click Sync.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
What Spectrum hosting options are supported?
Both Viewpoint Cloud-hosted and on-premises Spectrum instances are supported.
Why do Job Numbers need to match Spectrum exactly?
The integration matches Raken Projects to Spectrum Jobs using the Job Number field. If your Raken Project Numbers don't match Spectrum's format exactly, the integration creates duplicate Projects instead of linking existing ones. Your specialist reviews this with you before connecting.
What if I have custom pay types in Raken?
Spectrum only supports RT, OT, and DT pay types, which map directly to the corresponding Raken defaults. Custom pay types not linked to Spectrum records can cause sync failures — your specialist will help resolve these during onboarding.
Some employees are missing their Classification in Raken — why?
Raken currently only supports pulling Classification data from Spectrum's "1-Wage Code Rates" option. If an employee's Spectrum profile is set up with a different classification source, their Classification will not sync to Raken automatically. Confirm with your integration specialist that affected employees are configured to use Wage Code Rates in Spectrum. If they are and the Classification still isn't appearing, contact your Customer Success Manager — a manual resync of affected employee records may be needed.
If we re-run the employee sync, will inactive workers get reactivated in Raken?
No. Employees will not be reactivated in Raken unless they are also active in Spectrum. Re-running the sync is safe to use as a troubleshooting step even across a large employee base.

Considerations
Requires the Performance Plan and an active Viewpoint Spectrum instance.
Raken Job Numbers must match Spectrum job numbers exactly before connecting.
IT access is required to install the AppXchange Connector Agent alongside your Spectrum instance.
Spectrum only supports RT, OT, and DT pay types — custom pay types not linked to Spectrum records must be resolved before go-live.
Classification sync currently only supports Spectrum's "1-Wage Code Rates" configuration. Other classification sources in Spectrum will not sync to Raken.
Re-running employee sync does not reactivate employees who are inactive in Spectrum — it's safe to use for troubleshooting.
