Finding a specific photo in a project gallery with hundreds of images is time-consuming. Raken's AI Photo Tagging automatically analyzes and categorizes your project photos as they're taken — so instead of scrolling through everything, you can search by what's in the photo and find exactly what you need in seconds.

AI Photo Tagging is an opt-in integration an Account Administrator turns on once:

Once connected, new photos are tagged automatically, whether they're taken in the Raken app or added from your device's camera roll on web or mobile — it does not tag photos already in your Gallery before you turned it on. To search by tag, open a project's Gallery and type a keyword (e.g., "concrete", "rebar", "equipment") in the search bar.

AI Photo Tagging requires the Performance Plan.

AI Photo Tagging is opt-in, not automatic out of the box. An Account Administrator connects it once from the Integrations Hub — a single click on + Connect, no further configuration — and it stays on from that point forward.

Once connected, any new photo added to a project is analyzed and tagged automatically, whether it was taken inside the Raken app or uploaded from your device's camera roll on web or mobile — for example, concrete, rebar, equipment, framing, or excavation. Tags are applied within seconds of the photo being uploaded.

Tagging applies to image files only (JPEG, PNG, GIF, and similar formats). PDFs, Word documents, and other non-image files that also live in the Gallery are not tagged. Each photo can have up to 10 tags.

Important: turning on AI Photo Tagging does not retroactively tag photos already in your Gallery, and custom tags cannot be added manually to those older photos either. Only photos added after you connect the integration can be tagged, AI-generated or custom.

You don't need to name files or add descriptions for the search to work. The AI reads the content of the photo and tags it for you.

Only an Account Administrator can turn AI Photo Tagging on. Log into the Raken web app.

Navigate to the Integrations Hub, where all of Raken's available integrations are listed.

Find Raken AI Photo Tagging in the list and click + Connect. No other configuration or setup is required — this one click turns it on for the account.

From this point forward, new photos are automatically tagged, whether they're taken inside the Raken app or uploaded from your device's camera roll on web or mobile. Photos already in your Gallery from before you connected the integration are not tagged retroactively, and custom tags can't be added to them manually either.

Log into the Raken web app. Click Projects in the left side navigation and open your project. Click Gallery in the project left side menu.

Click any photo to open it. The AI-generated tags appear in the panel on the right-hand side of the screen. Each tag is listed as a clickable label.

You're always in control. From the photo panel you can:

Open the project Gallery in the Raken mobile app and tap any photo to view it. Tap the ⓘ info icon to see that photo's tags.

The most powerful use of AI Photo Tagging is the search bar in the Gallery. Type any keyword — concrete, rebar, crane, a custom tag you added — and Raken instantly surfaces every photo in the gallery with that tag. No more scrolling through hundreds of images.

Custom tags you add work in search just like AI-generated tags — so if you tag photos with a subcontractor name or phase code, you can search by those too.

You need to turn it on — it's not automatic out of the box. An Account Administrator finds Raken AI Photo Tagging in the Integrations Hub and clicks + Connect once. No other configuration or setup is required, and it stays on for the account from that point forward.

No. AI Photo Tagging only tags photos added after the integration is connected. Older photos already in your Gallery are not tagged retroactively, and custom tags can't be added to them manually either, the tag-editing option isn't available on photos the integration never processed. If a photo needs a tag, it would need to be re-uploaded after the integration is connected.

Any photo added to a project after AI Photo Tagging has been connected for the account is analyzed and tagged by the AI, whether it was taken directly inside the Raken app or uploaded from your device's camera roll on web or mobile. Only image files are tagged — PDFs, Word documents, and other non-image files are not.

Not currently. There's no company-level allow list or block list for tags. The AI applies tags using a model tuned for construction sites, and it's designed to skip overly generic background tags (like "sky" or "trees") unless something specific and work-related is happening in the photo.

AI tags are currently available in the Project Gallery only. They are not yet surfaced in Daily Reports or the Activity Feed.

Not at this time. The bulk download tool applies to the entire gallery or a selected set of photos, not by tag. If tag-specific downloads are important to your workflow, share that feedback with the Raken Support team.

Yes — an Account Administrator can disconnect Raken AI Photo Tagging from the Integrations Hub the same way it was connected. If you run into any issues disconnecting it, contact the Raken Support team at help@rakenapp.com for help.

You can edit or remove any AI-generated tag directly from the photo panel. Click the tag to edit it or click the × to remove it. Correcting tags also helps improve future AI accuracy for your account.

Yes, with one difference — demo accounts are provisioned with a lower usage limit than live production accounts. An Account Administrator (or rep, on a demo) still needs to click + Connect on Raken AI Photo Tagging in the Integrations Hub the same way; it doesn't turn on by default just because the account is a demo.
