In this article, learn how Raken's Deltek ComputerEase Direct API integration works, what data syncs automatically, and what to expect during the CS-managed onboarding process.

Raken's direct API integration with Deltek ComputerEase automatically syncs your Projects, Employees, Cost Codes, Classifications, and Pay Types between ComputerEase and Raken every 10–20 minutes — eliminating the manual effort of managing payroll data in two systems. When it's time to process payroll, sync your completed time cards from Raken to ComputerEase with a click.

Quick Answer

The ComputerEase Direct API integration is CS-managed. To get started:

  1. Contact your Customer Success Manager or email help@rakenapp.com to request access.

  2. Your Raken integration specialist will confirm eligibility and schedule an onboarding call.

ComputerEase Direct API integration requires the Performance Plan.

How It Works

Once connected, the integration syncs the following data from ComputerEase to Raken every 10–20 minutes:

  • Jobs — synced as Raken Projects

  • Employees — synced as Raken Workers

  • Phases & Categories — synced as Raken Cost Codes

  • Classifications (class and union combinations) — synced as Raken Classifications

  • Pay Types — synced as Raken Pay Types

When it's time to process payroll, you push your completed time cards from Raken Timesheets to ComputerEase in two clicks. Time card sync requires FieldEase to be active in your ComputerEase instance.

Data Mapping

The table below shows how data maps between Deltek ComputerEase and Raken, and in which direction.

What to Expect During Onboarding

Your Raken integration specialist leads the connection process. Here's what to expect:

  1. Access request & eligibility review — Contact your CS Manager or email help@rakenapp.com. Your specialist confirms you meet the requirements: active Performance Plan, active ComputerEase instance with API Management enabled.

  2. Intro call — Your specialist reviews the integration, answers questions, and captures your configuration preferences (which data to sync, time card sync settings, etc.).

  3. ComputerEase API setup — Before the onboarding call, you'll set up an API Data Access Group and generate an API Application Key in ComputerEase. Your specialist provides step-by-step instructions. You'll share the API Refresh Token with your specialist to establish the connection.

  4. Data cleanup (existing customers only) — If you already have data in Raken, your specialist helps you align Project Numbers and Employee IDs to match ComputerEase records exactly before connecting, to avoid duplicate entries.

  5. Connection & initial sync — Your specialist connects the integration and runs the initial import of your ComputerEase data into Raken in the correct order: Classifications → Employees → Projects → Cost Codes → Pay Types.

  6. Data review — You review the synced data together and confirm everything looks correct.

  7. Time card sync test — You run a test time card sync to confirm the end-to-end flow is working.

  8. Go live — Your team starts using the integration as part of your standard payroll workflow.

How to Sync Time Cards to ComputerEase

  1. Log into the Raken web app and click Time in the left side navigation.

  2. Click Time cards, then click Timesheets.

  3. Select the pay period you want to sync.

  4. Select all or specific time cards, then click Sync selected in the top right.

  5. A dry run checks all selected records. Review any issues flagged and correct them.

  6. When the dry run shows no errors, click Sync time cards. Synced records show a status of Success once posted to ComputerEase.

Troubleshooting & FAQ

What is FieldEase and why is it required?

FieldEase is a ComputerEase module that enables the API-based time card posting flow. Time card sync from Raken to ComputerEase requires FieldEase to be active in your ComputerEase instance. Contact your ComputerEase account representative if FieldEase is not currently active.

How does the integration handle existing data in Raken?

If you already have Projects, Employees, or Cost Codes in Raken, your specialist runs a matching process during onboarding that links your existing records to the corresponding ComputerEase records. This prevents duplicate entries. Accurate Project Numbers and Employee IDs in Raken are critical for successful matching.

Is the flat file / CSV ComputerEase integration the same thing?

No. The Direct API integration is a separate, newer integration that syncs data automatically. The ComputerEase CSV integration is a simpler flat file export that formats your Raken time card CSV for manual import into ComputerEase. Both can be used — your specialist can help you determine which is right for your workflow.

What if I want to sync time using CSV instead of the API?

You can use the ComputerEase CSV Export integration alongside the Direct API integration. The Direct API handles the inbound data sync (Jobs, Employees, Cost Codes), and you export time cards via CSV for import into ComputerEase. Let your specialist know your preference during the intro call.

Technical Specifications

  • Compatibility: Web app only

  • Sync frequency: Every 10–20 minutes (inbound); on-demand (time card outbound)

  • Sync direction: Inbound automatic (ComputerEase → Raken); outbound on-demand (Raken → ComputerEase)

Considerations

  • Requires the Performance Plan and an active ComputerEase instance with API Management enabled.

  • Time card sync requires FieldEase to be active in ComputerEase.

  • Pay types beyond RT, OT, and DT must be synced from ComputerEase — they cannot be directly imported in all cases. Your specialist will confirm this during onboarding.

  • Existing Raken data must be cleaned up before connecting to avoid duplicate records — your specialist will guide you through this process.
