Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Navigate to Pay Period Settings
Log into the Raken web app. Click Company in the left side menu. Click Time, then click Pay period.
This feature is only available on the Raken web app.
Step 2: Select Your Pay Period Frequency
Choose the pay period interval that matches your company's payroll schedule:
Daily — each day is its own pay period
Weekly — one week per pay period
Bi-Weekly — two weeks per pay period
Monthly — one month per pay period
Step 3: Select the Pay Period Start Date
Choose the day of the week your pay period begins. This determines how each pay period is defined in the Time tab — for example, a Weekly pay period starting on Monday will group time cards from Monday through Sunday.
Step 4: Set the Effective Date
Select the Effective date — the date from which the new pay period frequency and start date will apply to timesheets going forward.
Changes to pay period settings apply to future timesheets from the effective date. Historical time cards are not reorganized.
Step 5: Save
Click the orange Save button. The pay period settings take effect on the effective date you selected.
Troubleshooting & FAQ
Does changing the pay period affect existing time cards?
No. Pay period changes apply from the effective date you set. Time cards already captured will remain grouped under the previous pay period structure.
Can I have different pay periods for different employee groups?
No. Pay period settings apply at the company level — all employees follow the same pay period structure. For different overtime or break rules across employee groups, use separate Time Policies.
How does the pay period setting affect the Time tab views?
The Pay period date filter option in the Summary, Grid, and Entries views uses your pay period settings to group time cards correctly. If your pay period is set to Bi-Weekly starting Monday, selecting "Pay period" in the date picker will display exactly two weeks of time cards starting on the Monday that began the current period.
Where can I see the current pay period?
The current pay period dates are displayed at the top of the Summary, Grid, and Entries views in the Time tab.
