How to Create and Manage Observations in Raken

Creating and managing actionable observations out in the field can assist in the quick resolution of issues and improve safety and quality.

What are observations?

Observations help reduce risk by preventing and quickly resolving jobsite issues with specific positive or negative observations that can be assigned to specific people for quick and accurate resolutions.



How to Log an Observation on the Web?

  1. Log into the Raken Web App.

  2. Click the Project button at the top of the page.

  3. Select the project from the list for which you would like to log an observation.

  4. Click the option for Safety and QC on the left side of the page.

  5. Click the option for Observations that appears.

  6. Click the orange button labeled + Observation to create a new observation.

  7. On the page that appears you can create your observation.

    1. Add a photo or file to provide context for your observation.

    2. Specify if the observation is Positive or Negative.

    3. Specify the observation Type.

      1. You will then specify a Sub Type depending on the selection made in the Type field.

    4. Specify the Status of the observation,

      1. By default, the status will be marked as Open.

    5. Specify the observation Priority.

    6. Specify the Location of the observation.

    7. Type out a Description for the observation.

    8. Specify an Assignee for the observation resolution.

    9. Specify a Due Date.

    10. You can optionally add additional Assignees.

    11. You can also specify who should receive observation specific notifications.

  8. Once completed you can Save as Draft or Save.


How to Log an Observation on the Raken App?

  1. Log into the Raken Mobile App.

  2. Tap on the Project for which you need to log an observation.

  3. Tap on the Observation tool on the page that appears.

  4. To create a new Observation, tap the orange + button in the bottom right corner of the screen.

  5. Specify if the observation is Positive or Negative

  6. Select the observation Type.

    1. You will then select a Sub Type depending on the selection made in the Type field.

  7. Select the observation Priority.

  8. Select the Location of the observation.

  9. Type out a Description for the observation.

  10. Select any desired Assignees.

  11. Select those on your team who should receive notification related to your observation.

  12. Tap the Save button on the top right side of the screen and select Save as Draft or Save.


Managing Observations

Once created, observations can be managed by those who are assigned and those that have access to the project within Raken. You can attach images, videos and other files to observations to provide details during the resolution process.

The goal of all observations is to document and when applicable, resolve any issues that might occur on a jobsite.
