Learn what changed and what stayed the same with recent Raken time tracking updates, including Time Cards on Daily Logs, Company Name on Work Logs, Per Diem, Overtime Premiums, and redesigned time card screens.

Updated today

Raken has made several enhancements to time tracking to give your team more flexibility in the field. Whether you use Raken primarily for daily reporting or rely on it for full payroll workflows, these updates are designed to work alongside what you already do — without disrupting your daily report.

Quick Answer

Recent Raken time tracking updates include:

  • Time Cards are now accessible directly from Daily Logs — alongside Work Logs

  • Work Logs now include a Company Name field to track activity by company or subcontractor

  • New advanced features include Per Diem Tracking, Weekend and Shift Overtime Premiums, and redesigned time card screens

Your daily report is not changing. Work Logs work exactly as they always have.

Your Daily Report Is Not Changing

These updates do not affect your daily report. If you use Work Logs today to track the number of people and hours on a job, you can continue to do so — nothing about that workflow has changed.

The updates add new options alongside what you already use. You choose how much or how little to use them.

Time Cards on Daily Logs

You will now see a Time Cards section directly in your Daily Logs, separate from Work Logs. This gives you a streamlined way to track individual employee hours as part of your daily reporting workflow — without leaving the project.

  • Already using Work Logs to track headcount and hours? Keep doing exactly that. Work Logs are still there and work the same way.

  • Want to track time for specific individuals? Use Time Cards from Daily Logs for a more detailed, payroll-ready workflow.

Company Name on Work Logs

When you open a Work Log, you will now be asked to select a company name. Work Logs are designed to track manpower and progress on site — and for General Contractors, this typically means tracking subcontractors. The Company Name field makes that manpower consistently reportable by company across your projects.

  • Only work for one company? You'll be prompted once and your company will be saved automatically for future Work Logs.

  • Logging work for multiple companies or subcontractors? This field is designed for you. You can select from companies assigned to the project or add a new one on the spot.

  • Prefer a custom name instead? Tap the ellipsis (…) on the Work Log to switch to a fully editable name field. Work log names are also editable when you copy or edit an existing entry.

  • Tracking time for individual employees? Work Logs are best for headcount and activity by company. For individual employee hour tracking, use Time Cards instead.

New Time Tracking Features

For teams that want to take their time workflows further, Raken has introduced several powerful enhancements:

Per Diem Tracking Capture and record per diem requests for Travel, Meals, Lodging, and Other directly within your time workflows — so you stay compliant and simplify reimbursements at the end of the pay period. Weekend and Shift Overtime Premiums Automate complex pay rules for weekend shifts, early starts, late finishes, and off-hour work — so the correct pay type is assigned automatically without manual intervention. To learn more, see How to Set Up Overtime Premiums in Raken.

Overtime Rule Templates Set custom overtime rules or choose from pre-built templates designed for common pay structures — including California's consecutive-day overtime requirements. To learn more, see Overtime Rule Templates.

Redesigned Time Card Screens New time card forms on web and mobile make it faster to enter time for crews and individuals. Bulk edit, split time across cost codes, and manage the full pay period from one central place. To learn more, see How to Create Time Cards in Raken.

Considerations

  • Your daily report and Work Log workflows are unchanged.

  • Time Cards are available to all Raken accounts at no additional cost.

  • Per Diem and Overtime Premiums (Weekend, Shift, Holiday) require the Performance Plan. Contact your account manager to learn more.

  • The Company Name field on Work Logs is required. It defaults to your own company and can be changed by tapping the field.
